
OTTAWA (AP)—Jason Spezza(notes) had a goal and three assists and the Ottawa Senators beat the Islanders 4-1 Thursday night and handed New York its sixth straight loss.
Spezza, held without a point in his first two games back from a groin injury, set up goals by defensemen Sergei Gonchar(notes) and David Hale(notes) before scoring his second of the season to put Ottawa up by three 6:17 into the second.
He got his third assist when Chris Kelly(notes) scored into an empty net with 12.5 seconds remaining. Peter Regin(notes) had two assists.
Brian Elliott(notes) made 28 saves in his ninth straight start for the Senators, who have won five of seven since getting off to a 1-4-1 start.
Matt Moulson(notes) spoiled Elliott's shutout bid with a power-play goal 3:40 into the third.
