{allcanada} Battle of the Blades Week 5: Zombies rule

Shae-Lynn Bourne and Patrice Brisebois have risen from the dead.

Thanks to their Halloween routine set to The Monster Mash — which proved to be a graveyard smash on Sunday's "second chances" episode of Battle of the Blades — the pair made a triumphant return to the competition on Monday's results show.

The other three previously ousted couples vying to win back their spot on the CBC reality TV series couldn't hold a match to Brisebois and Bourne's zany zombie costumes and board-stiff choreography. Christine Hough-Sweeney and Russ Courtnall and Anabelle Langlois and Georges Laraque were immediately ousted on Monday, and runners up Violetta Afanasieva and PJ Stock went shortly after they earned only one vote from guest judge Curtis Joseph — while Bourne and Brisebois earned the other two from Jeremy Roenick and Sandra Bezic — in the skateoff.

Bourne and Brisebois are living (or dead?) proof that style and performance matter most in this competition; their gimmicky, technically simple zombie routine had far more treats than tricks. And now that they've earned the competition's first 6.0s (from Roenick and Bezic on Sunday's show), it'll be interesting to see what kind of routine they can scare up next week when they face off against Isabelle Brasseur and Todd Warriner, Jamie Sale and Theo Fleury, Kyoko Ina and Kelly Chase and Ekaterina Gordeeva and Valerie Bure.
