It turns out that Evan Mosher is something of a late bloomer.
The 20-year-old goaltender made 28 saves as the P.E.I. Rocket blanked the Halifax Mooseheads 3-0 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Friday night.
This is only Mosher's second shutout in five years with the Rocket. He's seen limited play in that span, earning 33 wins in 59 games.
Mosher, a native of Conception Bay South, N.L., had his most productive season last year, playing 37 times with 21 victories, a .904 saves percentage and a 3.13 goals-against average.
He's off to an even better start this year, winning eight of 15 games, dropping his GAA to 2.83 and raising his saves percentage to .917.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Gatineau 2 Cape Breton 1; Moncton 4 Acadie-Bathurst 1; Quebec 1 Chicoutimi 0; Victoriaville 5 Rimouski 3; Montreal 4 Baie-Comeau 3 (SO); Lewiston 5 Drummondville 4 and Saint John 7 Val-d'Or 3.
At Charlottetown, Matthew Hobbs had a power-play goal for P.E.I. (10-8-0), while Felipe Corbo and Samuel Morneau also scored.
Anthony Terenzio stopped 21 shots for Halifax (5-13-1).

At Sydney, N.S., Nicolas Deslauriers scored the winner at the 7:17 mark of the third period as Gatineau downed Cape Breton.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau had the other goal for the Olympiques (9-7-2).
William Carrier was the lone scorer for the Screaming Eagles (5-12-1).

At Moncton, N.B., Brandon Gormley opened scoring as the Wildcats skated past Acadie-Bathurst.
Thomas Flynn and James Melindy had their first goals of the season for Moncton (13-4-2), while Alex Saulnier also tallied.
Zach O'Brien had the only goal for the Titan (12-6-0).

At Quebec City, Louis Domingue made 19 saves as the Remparts stymied Chicoutimi.
Jonathan Audy-Marchessault provided all the offence Quebec (14-1-1) needed.
Christopher Gibson stopped 21 saves for the Sagueneens (6-8-4).

At Victoriaville, Que., Philip-Michael Devos had a pair of goals, including an empty-netter, as the Tigres sank Rimouski.
Devos also set up a goal for Victoriaville (9-9-1), while Etienne St-Germain, Philippe Maillet and Yanni Gourde added singles.
Jarrad Struthers had the first goal of the game for the Oceanic (9-10-0), while Alex Belzile and Patrick Delisle-Houde had markers as well.

Juniors 4 Drakkar 3 (SO)
At Baie-Comeau, Que., Louis Leblanc was the only player to score in the shootout as Montreal slipped by the Drakkar.
Trevor Parkes, Dylan Anderson and Louis Leblanc scored in regulation for the Juniors (11-3-3).
Frederick Gamelin forced extra time for Baie-Comeau (1-14-3) with 1:10 left in the third period and Mikael Langlois had a couple of goals.

Maineiacs 5 Voltigeurs 4
At Drummondville, Que., Jess Tanguy had the winner and an assist as Lewiston topped the Voltigeurs.
Cameron Critchlow, Alex Zafiris, Michael Chaput and Francis Beauvillier also tallied for the Maineiacs (11-7-2).
Ondrej Palat struck twice and added an assist for Drummondville (12-6-2), while Jean-Philippe Mathieu and Marc-Olivier Vachon added markers.

At Val-d'Or, Que., Stanislav Galiev had a pair of goals and two assists as Saint John scattered the Foreurs.
Mike Thomas and Jonathan Huberdeau both had short-handed goals for the Sea Dogs (13-3-1), while Zack Phillips, Gabriel Bourret and Simon Despres chipped in as well.
Jonathan Hazen scored twice and added an assist for Val-d'Or (10-7-2), while Alexandre Touchette also found the back of the net.
