{allcanada} OHL: MCKEGG LEADS OTTERS TO WIN OVER KNIGHTS

After surrendering 12 goals in their last two games, the Erie Otters looked a lot more confident Saturday night.

Greg McKegg scored two short-handed goals as the Otters stymied the London Knights to snap a three-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory in Ontario Hockey League play.

Erie found an opening through Igor Bobkov, the Knights' six-foot-six, 240-pound rookie goaltender, late in the first period.

Second-year winger David Broll turned defenceman David Shields' pass into his second goal of the season and a 1-0 Otters lead with 5:32 left in the first.

Shawn Szydlowski scored his first goal of the season just 31 seconds later to make it 2-0.

Then in the second period, a defensive miscue turned into a short-handed goal for McKegg. The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect poked the puck past Bobkov after it slipped out from under the goaltender's glove.

The Otters continued the assault late in the period.

Tyler Hostetter scored his second goal of the season from Broll and rookie Chris Marchese for a 4-0 lead with 4:58 left.

Andreas Athanasiou poked in a rebound with 7.6 seconds left in the second to get London on the scoreboard.

The Knights sliced the Otters' lead to 4-2 at the 2:40 mark of the third, as Vladislav Namestnikov's shot trickled past Sadikov. London out-shot the Otters 14-5 in the final 20 minutes.

But the Otters held off the Knights the rest of the way. McKegg scored his second short-handed goal, this one into an empty net, with 1:02 left.
