Not true. Everything after Sgt Pepper was record on multi track. Sgt Pepper originally was mixed down to a four track from 4 four track recordings, then mixed down to stereo from there. When Yellow submarine (the movie) was re-released, they took the 16 tracks from the 4 "master tapes", and digitally synced them, thus creating a sixteen track master to re-mix into stereo - or, dare I say, surround - Wait. The movie is 5.1 (listen to the cd that accompanied the re-release of the movie - it's completely different than the original).

Sadly, these are not the actual multi track recordings, merely, Rock Band 5.1 divisions. Not good for remixing, but a lot of fun to play with! I've tried for some time to convince anyone that a "game" based on original multi track recordings would be unbelievable. Who wouldn't enjoy messing about with, say DSOTM, or the 16 tracks of Sgt. Pepper (I know the Beatles used 4 tracks for SP. Four of them...).

I would very much enjoy listening to some 5.1 "remixes" created by the
talented individuals who post here.
