{allcanada} OHL: GRUBAUER SHUTS OUT FORMER TEAM AS KINGSTON TOPS BULLS

Philip Grubauer made an impression on his current and former team Saturday night.

Grubauer had a successful return to Belleville as the Kingston Frontenacs blanked the Bulls 3-0 in Ontario Hockey League action.

After spending two seasons in a Belleville uniform, Grubauer made 44 saves to get his first shutout of the year for the Frontenacs.

Grubauer was traded to the Windsor Spitfires midway through the 2009-10 season, where he was an instrumental part of their Memorial Cup championship.

In the off-season he was moved to Kingston and has helped the Frontenacs to their quick start this season.

Saturday's shutout was just the 10th in the 18-year-old's four years in the OHL.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was Saginaw 3 Erie 2, London 4 Sarnia 3 (OT), Ottawa 4 Sudbury 2, Plymouth 6 Barrie 2, Owen Sound 8 Guelph 1 and Sault Ste. Marie 4 Niagara 2.

At Belleville, Ont., Nathan Moon scored twice for Kingston (1-1-0), while Michael Farrell also tallied.

Tyson Teichmann made 26 saves for Belleville (0-1-0).

Spirit 3 Otters 2

At Erie, Pa., centre Vincent Trocheck's second goal was the winner as Saginaw edged the Otters 3-2.

Brandon Saad had a goal and an assist for the Spirit (1-1-0), while Ryan O'Connor chimed in with two assists.

Tyler Hostetter and Anthony Luciani both scored for Erie (1-1-0), while Mike Cazzola had two assists.

Knights 4 Sting 3 (OT)

At London, Ont., Jared Knight scored in overtime to give the Knights the win over Sarnia.

Michael MacDonald had a goal and an assist for London (2-0-0), while Victor Terreri and Phil Varone also scored.

Nail Yakupov, Alex Galchenyuk and Brandon Francisco replied for the Sting (1-0-1).

67's 4 Wolves 2

At Sudbury, Ont., Steven Janes struck twice as the Ottawa topped the Wolves.

Tyler Toffoli and Cody Lindsay also scored for the 67's (1-1-0).

Josh McFadden and Kristoff Kontos found the back of the net for Sudbury (0-2-0).

Whalers 6 Colts 2

At Plymouth, Mich., Alex Aleardi had a hat trick as the Whalers pounded Barrie.

Tyler Brown, Mitchell Heard and Peter Neal also scored for Plymouth (1-1-1), while Austin Mattson chipped in with two assists.

Steven Beyers scored on a penalty shot for the Colts (0-1-0), while Zach Hall tallied on the man advantage.

Attack 8 Storm 1

At Owen Sound, Ont., Brendan Childerley had a hat trick, including the eventual winner, as the Attack throttled Guelph.

Captain Garrett Wilson scored twice and added an assist for Owen Sound (1-1-0), while Robby Mignardi, Liam Heelis and Jarrod Maidens added singles.

Mathew Sisca was the lone scorer for the Storm (1-1-0).

Greyhounds 4 IceDogs 2

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Nick Cousins scored the winner half-way through the third as the Greyhounds out-paced Niagara.

Brett Thompson and Carson Dubchak also tallied for Sault Ste. Marie (2-0-0), while Daniel Catenacci added an insurance empty-net goal with three seconds left in regulation.

Captain Andrew Agozzino and Freddie Hamilton replied for Niagara (1-1-0).
