
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP)—Nikolai Khabibulin(notes) made 26 saves, rookie Jordan Eberle(notes) had two goals and an assist, and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Vancouver Canucks 8-2 in a preseason game Sunday.
Shawn Horcoff(notes) and Dustin Penner(notes) also scored twice, and Chris Vande Velde(notes) and Linus Omark(notes) had the other goals for the Oilers (3-0-0).
Manny Malholtra and Ryan Kesler(notes) scored for the Canucks (1-4-0).
Khabibulin was making his first start since suffering a string of setbacks, starting with a season-ending back injury last November. He was also convicted last month of drunken driving and excessive speeding in a Scottsdale, Ariz., suburb last February.
