The Calgary Stampeders rinally revealed the worst kept secret in the CFL on Sunday as they announced the signing of non-import defensive lineman Corey Mace.

"I'm excited about Corey being here and to get him out on the football field," said head coach and general manager John Hufnagel in a statement. "I believe he'll be able to come in and compete at a high level during practice and I look forward to seeing what he can bring to the table."

Regarded by many as the top prospect in the 2007 draft class, Mace's NFL aspirations caused him to fall to the second round where he was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He has spent the last three seasons with the Buffalo Bills, dressing for five regular season games while spending the remainder of his time on the team's practice roster.

During his time in Buffalo his CFL rights have been traded three times since he was originally drafted, most recently from the Toronto Argonauts to the Stampeders in exchange for non-import linebacker Tristan Black.

The Port Moody, B.C. native earned second-team All Mountain West Conference honours in his final collegiate season with the Wyoming Cowboys of the NCAA.
