COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ethan Moreau has found a new home with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The 34-year-old forward was claimed off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.
Moreau served as the Oilers captain the past three seasons and was expected to have the final year of his contract bought out after clearing waivers.
Instead, he'll play out the last year of that deal in Columbus, where he'll earn US$1.75-million next season.
In 863 career NHL games with Chicago and Edmonton, Moreau has 145 goals and 277 points.
"We are very pleased and excited to add a player of Ethan's caliber and person of his character to the Blue Jackets organization," said Howson. "He will bring valuable leadership, competitiveness and experience to our lineup."
