Winnipeg Jets centre Morgan Barron is listed as week-to-week after sustaining a lower-body injury in the team’s 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, TSN’s Danielle Bain reports.

It’s tough timing for the Jets, whose playoff hopes are hanging by a thread at 33-31-12 entering play on Monday.

Barron, 27, has 11 goals and 23 points in 65 games this season for the Jets - his fifth with the team. He logged 12:59 of ice time over 17 shifts in the game against Columbus, which was just above his season average of 12:48 per game.

Winnipeg sits tied for 11th in the Western Conference at 78 points, but are just three points behind the Nashville Predators and Los Angeles Kings, who are currently tied for the final spot in the playoffs with six games apiece remaining.

In order for Winnipeg to qualify for the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season and eighth in their past nine campaigns, they will need to overtake four teams ahead of them in the standings.

Barron has already set a career high in points this season primarily skating on the fourth line. The sixth-year veteran has 41 goals and 83 points over 321 career NHL games split between the New York Rangers and Jets.
