Gavin McKenna scored his ninth goal of the playoffs as the Medicine Hat Tigers defeated the Spokane Chiefs 4-2 in Game 5 to claim the WHL championship.
This is the sixth time the Tigers have claimed the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL champions and first since 2007.
Medicine Hat will represent the WHL in the Memorial Cup, joining the host Rimouski Oceanic, the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats and OHL champion London Knights.
The Memorial Cup runs from May 22 to June 1.
