ST. JOHN, N.B. — The Charlottetown Islanders regained top spot in the QMJHL standings with a 5-3 win over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday.
The Islanders (19-7-2) took first place in the overall standings, moving past the idle Sherbrooke Phoenix (18-6-2).
Jakub Brabenec led the way with two goals and an assist. Brett Budgell and Patrick Guay each scored one and added an assist, while Sam Archibald also scored for the Islanders. Oliver Satny made 34 saves in the win.
Charlottetown bounced back from a 5-0 defeat to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Friday.
Adam Bowness, Jeremie Poirier and Josh Lawrence replied for the Sea Dogs (14-10-3), which have dropped two straight. Jonathan Lemieux stopped 24 pucks in defeat.
Elsewhere around the QMJHL, Acadie-Bathurst downed Val-d'Or 5-1; Rimouski easily defeated Rouyn-Noranda 7-1; Gatineau triumphed over Blainville-Boisbriand 6-2; Chicoutimi soared past Shawinigan 6-4; Halifax overpowered Victoriaville 7-3; and Drummondville edged Cape Breton 4-3 in a shootout.
