Ilya Mikheyev is expected to be out of the lineup for the immediate future after injuring his hand against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
"We'll know more on Monday," Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said. "But it's not looking like it will be short term."
The 27-year-old forward left in the first period of a 4-1 preseason victory Saturday and did not return for the second. He was replaced by Michael Bunting on the wing with John Tavares and William Nylander.
The Maple Leafs host the Montreal Canadiens in their season opener Wednesday (7 p.m. ET; SN, TVAS, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
