Shea Weber will be out for at least the next two games because of an upper-body injury, coach Dominique Ducharme said Wednesday.
The defenseman has missed four games and won't play at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; TSN4, TSN2, RDS, NHL.TV) or Saturday.
The Canadiens captain has scored 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) and leads the team in ice time per game (22:42) in 48 games this season.
It is unclear if Weber will return for Montreal's final two games of the regular season, against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday and Wednesday.
Goalie Carey Price will not travel to Toronto and will skate on his own in Montreal. He has been out since sustaining a concussion during a game against the Oilers on April 19.
The Canadiens (24-19-9) are fourth in the seven-team Scotia North Division and can become the final team from the division to clinch a Stanley Cup Playoff berth Thursday. The Maple Leafs, Oilers and Winnipeg Jets have each already clinched.
