The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed KHL forward Kirill Semyonov to a one-year, entry-level contract for the 2021-22 season.
Semyonov, 26, is coming off a Gagarin Cup championship season with Avangard Omsk where he had 10 goals and 26 points in 60 regular season games four goals and nine points in 23 playoff games. He has skated in 377 career KHL regular season games over the past nine seasons, scoring 70 goals and 169 points.
The signing continues a recent trend for the Maple Leafs, who have signed a number of KHL free agents to entry-level contracts that fit under the team's tight salary cap. That list includes current third-line winger Ilya Mikheyev, as well as recently traded defenceman Mikko Lehtonen and forward Alexander Barabanov.
