The Edmonton Oilers are expected to sign forward Dominik Kahun to a one-year, $975,000 deal, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
The 25-year-old split the past season between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres, posting 27 points through 50 games with the former and four points through six games with the latter.
Kahun's first go-round in the NHL came one year prior, wherein he posted 13 goals and 37 points through 82 games with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Before beginning his NHL tenure, he spent four years with Munich of Germany's DEL. He earned three DEL championships during his run in the league, along with a silver medal with the national team at the 2018 Olympic Games.
Kahun played two seasons alongside Oilers star Leon Draisaitl as teenagers in the Adler Mannheim's youth program, the two combining for a dominant 398 points through 30 games in their final year together.
"It was probably the best time of my life there," Kahun said of his time alongside Draisaitl in an interview with Sportsnet earlier this year. "Sometimes we had games where each guy had, like, 12 points. … We moved on, the teams got harder and harder, but we still were so good, we won those games sometimes 10-3, 9-5."
