{allcanada} Weber out 4-6 weeks for Canadiens with left ankle injury

Shea Weber will be out 4-6 weeks for the Montreal Canadiens with a left ankle injury. The defenseman was reevaluated by an orthopedic specialist in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Wednesday.

Weber, who is expected to make a full recovery, was injured in a 5-4 shootout win at the New Jersey Devils on Feb. 4. He has 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists) and is plus-8 in 55 games this season averaging 24:18 of ice time per game, most on the Canadiens and 12th in the NHL.

The Canadiens captain had tendons in his left foot repaired March 13, 2018, an injury that caused him to miss the final 48 games of that season and the first 24 games of 2018-19.

"We've had to do it before," forward Brendan Gallagher said before the Canadiens played the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, SN360, RDS). "Obviously, [Weber] takes care of a lot of that but for us, it's the same thing: five guys on the ice, we have to do the job.

"It's not something that you can rely on one guy to do it. It's a mentality where you have to be aware when they're on the ice. They do most of their team's damage, so if you're able to do a job on them, it helps your chances of winning."

Weber has 125 points (50 goals, 75 assists) in 217 games for Montreal after he was acquired in a trade with the Nashville Predators for defenseman P.K. Subban on June 29, 2016.
