Colin White has been assigned to the Ottawa Senators' AHL affiliate for a conditioning stint as he recovers from a hip flexor/groin injury which landed him on injured reserve.
The 22-year-old has been out since Oct. 23 after scoring one goal and assist in eight games this season for Ottawa.
Original projections had White missing between three to five weeks.
The Senators said White will practise with AHL Belleville on Thursday and play against the Syracuse Crunch on Friday.
Ottawa also recalled forward Jonathan Davidsson from Belleville after collecting one goal and two assists in eight AHL games.
It's the 22-year-old Swede's first season in North America after coming over to the Senators organization from Columbus in the Matt Duchene trade.
