Banks underwent surgery late last season after suffering a broken clavicle in October. Despite having full motion and strength in the shoulder, Scianitti reports a hit suffered during off-season training moved the plate in his shoulder, making his shoulder blade uneven.
The 31-year-old is testing it out to see how it reacts to contact as training camps across the CFL get underway on Sunday.
The plate inside his shoulder will be removed next off-season.
Banks had a career season in 2018 before going down the injury, recording 94 catches for 1,423 yards and 11 touchdowns over 14 games.
