{allcanada} Sparks rejoins Leafs as Hutchinson misses practice for personal reasons

TORONTO — Garret Sparks rejoined the Toronto Maple Leafs at practice on the eve of their playoff opener after the man who replaced him as the backup goaltender, Michael Hutchinson, missed for personal reasons.

The move came less than a week after head coach Mike Babcock announced Sparks would be given a 10-day break to "get his game back."

He wasn't expected to travel to Boston for Games 1 and 2 of Toronto's first-round series as a result. It wasn't immediately clear if that plan had changed.

Sparks' locker was removed from the team's dressing room on Friday and he spent the past few days in private on-ice sessions with members of the Leafs development team and extra defencemen Igor Ozhiganov and Justin Holl.

Hutchinson backed up Frederik Andersen in the regular-season finale at Montreal on Saturday and practised with the Leafs on Monday and Tuesday.
