Toronto FC announced that it has signed Spanish midfielder Alejandro Pozeulo as a designated player.
TSN Soccer analyst Kristian Jack reported last week that Pozeulo and his former club, KRC Genk, were nearing a transfer agreement.
The deal comes after a protracted effort to acquire the player that also resulted in a public row between Pozuelo and Genk.
The 27-year-old has made 26 appearances for Genk in Belgian First Division A this season and has five goals and nine assists.
The Seville, Spain native has also played for Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano as well as Swansea City in the English Premier League.
Pozuelo occupies TFC's third designated player position. The club looked to fill the void after agreeing to transfer striker Sebastian Giovinco to Saudi club Al-Hilal last month.
Pozuelo will join the club on Mar. 18.
