Connor McDavid plans to play for the Edmonton Oilers against the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVAS) after missing one game because of illness.
McDavid was at center between Alex Chiasson and Leon Draisaitl during practice Tuesday in St. Louis. He sat out Edmonton's 4-1 loss at the Dallas Stars on Monday, but said after practice that he was feeling better and plans to play against the Blues. McDavid had played 222 consecutive regular-season games before Monday.
The two-time defending NHL scoring champion leads the Oilers and is sixth in the NHL with 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) in 26 games.
The absence of McDavid and forward Ryan Spooner, who also returned to practice Tuesday after not playing Monday because of an illness, forced the Oilers to dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen against the Stars.
