Well I do a lot of classical decodes because that's part of my thing. Although not really in the same class as an Ambisonic recording, a quad recording can still give an enjoyable experience, which is certainly preferred over straight stereo.

It is. The quadraphonic matrices are just four separate channels that have been mathematically mixed into a two channel format using the combination of phase and amplitude mixing.
