Thanks for the extensive reply.
What I miss a bit is that you made a for you excellent upmix of Chicago but obviously refuse to think that others might have made excellent upmixes too.
I find that a bit strange....
Can I persuade you to listen to DVD 1 of my upmixes of the masters of Elvis and give your opinion ? A very large part is mono to 5.1 with a very fine sound field and had hundreds of positive reviews especially for the quality of the sound.
"Never heard Elvis better !"

In general I prefer an upmix when it sounds better on my 5.1 system than the stereo does. Front speakers at -+ 30 degrees are not ideal for stereo records and I am too lazy to move those speakers around with every album I listen to ;-)
