Quarterback Johnny Manziel was not present for the start of Montreal Alouettes practice Wednesday, marking the second straight day he hasn't practised with the team.

Als head coach Mike Sherman said Tuesday Manziel missed practice because of "a previously diagnosed medical condition that required blood work."

There was concern Manziel suffered a concussion after taking a big hit at the goalline against the Ottawa Redblacks on the weekend, but Sherman said Tuesday he expects the 25-year-old to suit up Saturday against the Edmonton Eskimos.

In two games for the Alouettes, Manziel is 27-46 for 272 yards and four interceptions.

Antonio Pipkin took first team reps with the Alouettes Wednesday.
