According to CFL.ca's Chris O'Leary, newly acquired quarterback Johnny Manziel will not start on Thursday against the Edmonton Eskimos, but he will see limited action.
Alouettes beat writer for the Montreal Gazette, Herb Zurkowsky reports that Vernon Adams Jr. is expected to start under centre for the Alouettes on Thursday, but O'Leary adds that that head coach Mike Sherman and the Alouettes organization agreed to give the 25-year-old a "taste of full-speed, regular-season action" against the Eskimos, meaning Manziel will make his much-anticipated regular season debut in the CFL.

A source within the organization said that Manziel will get a package for Thursday's game, enough to give him a feel for what meaningful games are like for a quarterback.
In two pre-season games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Manziel completed 21 of 31 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown while rushing six times for 29 yards.
The Alouettes acquired Manziel in a five-player blockbuster deal on Sunday in an attempt to jumpstart their anemic offence, which has scored a league-worst 69 points in five games this season.
