{allcanada} Raptors' VanVleet out for Game 4 with nagging shoulder injury

Casey intends on sticking with Raptors' struggling bench

It was the big question heading into the postseason, would the Raptors' talented, but very young bench have the same impact in the playoffs as they did in the regular season? Through the first three games of their series against the Wizards, the answer is no. Josh Lewenberg reports.

Toronto Raptors backup point guard Fred VanVleet will not play in Game 4 against the Washington Wizards due to a nagging shoulder injury, head coach Dwane Casey told the media prior to today's game.

VanVleet has only played two minutes in the series, which came in in Toronto's Game 2 win. After taking Games 1 and 2, the Raptors los Game 3.

The 24-year-old incurred his shoulder injury in the team's regular season finale last week against the Miami Heat. He left the game with 1:32 remaining in regulation after trying to fight through a screen, and stayed down for several seconds near the Toronto bench before getting helped off the floor.

VanVleet is in his second season with the Raptors after signing with the club as an undrafted free agent in 2016. In 76 games during the regular season, he averaged 8.6 points and 3.2 assists.
