Manager John Gibbons rolled out a possible opening day lineup preview Friday in Dunedin as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-5 for the second time in as many days.
The Jays got a total of 10 hits, including a pair of home runs from Devon Travis and Kendrys Morales. Morales had his best game of the spring, going 2-4 with two RBI while hitting in the No. 6 spot behind Russell Martin. Travis homered to centre off Orioles righty Jhan Martinez to give him longballs in two straight games.
Marco Estrada continued to look sharp this spring, lowering his Grapefruit ERA to 1.13 with four innings of one-run ball. He didn't walk a batter and struck out two.
Roberto Osuna worked a scoreless 7th to keep his ERA perfect in three appearances and Josh Donaldson started at third base for the second time this spring. He went 1-3 with an RBI.
Newly-signed reliever Tyler Clippard made his Jays debut, pitching a one-two-three 8th inning with two strikeouts. Clippard was handed a minor-league deal earlier in the week as he looks to rebound from a disappointing 2017 season.
Starting for the Orioles was former Blue Jays closer Miguel Castro, who surrendered one run in three innings. He is bidding for a spot in the back end of the Orioles' rotation after posting an ERA of 3.53 last season.
The Jays will be back in action Saturday as they host the Detroit Tigers in Dunedin and open the regular season at home on March 29 against the New York Yankees.
