{allcanada} Boeser sent to hospital after Canucks defeat Islanders

VANCOUVER -- Brock Boeser left Rogers Arena on a stretcher and was sent to a hospital after a collision with 27 seconds left in the third period of the Vancouver Canucks' 4-3 overtime win against the New York Islanders on Monday.

Boeser, who leads all NHL rookies with 29 goals, had to be helped off the ice after the 21-year-old forward fell into an open gate after trying to make a hit on Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck. Boeser appeared to hit his lower back on the edge of the gate just above his left hip, and was down on the ice for several minutes before being helped off without putting any weight on his left leg.

"Not really, just that he's gone to hospital for precautionary reasons," Canucks coach Travis Green said when asked if he had an update.

Green was then asked if seeing Boeser holding his back on the ice made it more concerning.

"You are always concerned, no matter what, when a player is injured," Green said. "I don't want to make a comment on it. I hope he's all right. I think our guys feel like it's a bruise."

Boeser leads the Canucks and is second among NHL rookies with 55 points in 62 games.
