Mark Letestu was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets by the Nashville Predators for a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft on Sunday. Letestu earlier had been traded to the Predators by the Edmonton Oilers for Pontus Aberg.
"Excited's a word," Letestu told the Blue Jackets website. "It's been a bit of a whirlwind this morning, kind of waking up to general managers calling you. It's been an exciting morning, that's for sure."
Letestu, 33, a center, has 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 60 games this season. He has 206 points (92 goals, 114 assists) in 538 regular-season games during nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Blue Jackets and Oilers.
Letestu can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
"I've been getting a lot of phone calls, a lot of text messages and fielding a lot of information all at once," Letestu said. "But if you could pick a spot where I knew I was going to be comfortable, and that's just knowing the staff, the people around the team, the city, there's no perfect town for me than this one."
Aberg, a 24-year-old forward, has eight points (two goals, six assists) in 37 games for the Predators this season. Selected by the Predators in the second round (No. 37) of the 2012 NHL Draft, he has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 52 NHL games, all with the Predators.
He had five points (two goals, three assists) in 16 Stanley Cup Playoff games last season to help the Predators reach the Stanley Cup Final, where they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games.
Aberg can become a restricted free agent after the 2019-20 season.
