The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled forward Kasperi Kapanen from the AHL's Toronto Marlies, two days after sending him down.
Kapanen picked up two assists for the Marlies in a game against Syracuse Saturday after being loaned by the Maple Leafs earlier that day. The 21-year-old has appeared in 28 games with the Marlies in 2017-18, recording 12 goals and 12 assists. Those numbers earned him an AHL all-star berth.
Kapanen has played in eight games for the Maple Leafs this season, registering two goals.
The Maple Leafs host the New York Islanders Wednesday in their first game after the NHL all-star break.
