{allcanada} Carey Price misses Thursday skate, return date undetermined

BROSSARD, Que. — Montreal Canadiens coach Claude Julien said on Thursday that a date for starting goaltender Carey Price's return to the ice is undetermined.

Price, who suffered a lower-body injury earlier this month, had been practising on his own for a week before saying on Tuesday that he'd be taking a couple of days off. He didn't skate Tuesday or Wednesday, and though he was expected to return to the ice Thursday, he didn't.

Price said he suffered his injury during warmups for a game in Minnesota, on Nov. 2. He then played the full 60 minutes and allowed five goals in a 6-3 loss to the Wild.

"Obviously any athlete will tell you: when you've warmed up and are running on a bit of adrenaline, you don't ever feel like it's bad until you wake up the next day and everything's cooled down and you're not feeling the adrenaline anymore," Price explained on Monday.

The B.C. native insisted his current injury has nothing to do with the one that saw him miss 70 games during the 2015-16 season.

In Price's absence, the Canadiens have gone 4-1-1.

Goaltender Charlie Lindgren has played five of those games, posting three wins and a save percentage of .957. He hasn't allowed more than two goals in any of his starts.

Lindgren will start again for the Canadiens on Thursday, when they welcome the Arizona Coyotes to the Bell Centre. Goaltender Antti Niemi, who was claimed off of waivers from the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, will back him up.
