Taylor Kitsch went on an extreme diet for his role in the limited series "Waco."
The 36-year-old actor will star as fanatical cult leader David Koresh and said he had to lose 30 pounds to resemble him.
"It was uncanny," Kitsch said on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" Monday.
On top of grueling 14-hour work days, Kitsch had to limit his calorie intake, which was something he wouldn't recommend to anyone.
"Yeah, it sucks," Kitsch said. "Be careful what you wish for."
Production gave Kitsch four months to transform himself into Koresh.
"I'd get 500 calories at breakfast and then it would go from like veggies in the mid-afternoon to chicken broth after 4 o' clock. And then you go run, which is awesome!" he added, sarcastically.
The "Friday Night Lights" alum is still trying hard to gain back the weight.
"I haven't yet so I'm literally eating anything and everything in sight, which is great," he said.
"Waco," a 6-part series that will air in January 2018, follows the 51-day standoff between Koresh, his cult followers and the FBI and ATF in 1993. The standoff ended in the death of 75 followers, who were named the Branch Davidians, including Koresh and 25 children.
