Cody Franson has spent the past two seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, but with free agency looming, the veteran defenceman said he's open to re-joining the Toronto Maple Leafs this summer.
Franson was asked Monday ahead of his team's matchup with the Maple Leafs whether he'd be open to signing with Toronto this summer.
"Oh yeah, for sure," Franson said, per the Toronto Sun, when asked if he would be open to signing with the Leafs.
Franson said the most fun he's ever had playing hockey was during the Maple Leafs 2013 playoff run.
He spent four seasons with the Maple Leafs from 2011-2015, signing three consecutive one-year deals with the team after being acquired from the Nashville Predators. He was traded back to the Predators ahead of the trade deadline during the 2014-15 season.
Franson, 29, owns three goals and 19 points in 65 games with Sabres this season. He will return to the lineup Monday night for the first time since sustaining an upper-body injury on March 17.
He is in the final season of a two-year, $6.65 million contract signed with the Sabres in 2015.
