Sharks team scope

San Jose Sharks forward Jannik Hansen's playing status remains unknown as he awaits a work visa after being acquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks for forward Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft on Wednesday. The Sharks, who did not hold a morning skate Monday after a 3-1 loss against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, will look to push their lead in the Pacific Division to seven points in the second game of a back to back against Central Division opponents. Defenseman David Schlemko did not play Sunday because of a lower-body injury sustained in the first period of a 3-1 win against the Canucks on Thursday and is expected to be a game-time decision Monday. Forward Joonas Donskoi was healthy enough to play Sunday after missing 15 games because of an upper-body injury but was scratched from the lineup.

Jets team scope

The Winnipeg Jets will look to win their third straight game when they continue their push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They are three points behind the St. Louis Blues for the second wild card from the Western Conference. "We've had a good little streak here. We have to keep it going," forward Shawn Matthias said. "[There's] 16 games left in the season now, every point matters. We're chasing but we're right there. This is a good team we're playing tonight but it's two points that we need." Shutting down the Sharks' transition game in the neutral zone will be key, forward Adam Lowry said. "Their forwards, they got a quick group of forwards there," he said. "[Defenseman] Brent Burns and a few guys back there that like to jump up in the rush and create some more odd-man situations. I think if we can slow them down in the neutral zone, don't let them come out of their end cleanly, that should bode well for us." Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck will make his 11th straight start. He has allowed one goal in his past two games.
