Goalie Frederik Andersen did not start the second period for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday because of an upper-body injury.
Andersen allowed two goals on 16 shots in the first period, which ended with Buffalo leading 2-1 at KeyBank Center.
He was replaced by Curtis McElhinney made 30 saves Thursday in a 4-2 win at the New Jersey Devils. It was his first start since March 3, second since Feb. 19.
Toronto entered Saturday with a three-point lead over the Boston Bruins for third place in the Atlantic Division. Andersen was playing his 61st game of the season.
