Oilers team scope
The Edmonton Oilers are 5-0-1 in their past six games and haven't played since Saturday, when they defeated the Calgary Flames 7-3. Edmonton is three points behind the Anaheim Ducks for second place in the Pacific Division with one game in hand and four points behind the San Jose Sharks, having played the same number of games. They play at the Ducks on Wednesday and the Sharks on Thursday. "We can't get out of our skin," coach Todd McLellan told the Oilers website after the morning skate Wednesday. "We have to keep doing what we do." Forward Matt Hendricks agreed. "A big test for us," he said. "Road games, too. Tough environment. What am I looking for? I'm looking for our team to play a solid game."
Ducks team scope
Jonathan Bernier was the only goalie on the ice at the optional morning skate, but coach Randy Carlyle wouldn't reveal his starter. John Gibson, who hasn't played since sustaining an upper-body injury in the first period against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, could return; however, the Ducks may opt to let him get an extra day of rest (plus the All-Star break) to recover. Carlyle did say the Ducks will be without forward Jakob Silfverberg, who will miss his third straight game with an upper-body injury. The Ducks, who are 10-2-2 in their past 14 games, are expecting a close game. "You always want to make an impression, and I'm sure [the Oilers] do," Carlyle told the team website. "They look at this as an opportunity to test themselves. We have to play a complete game. They're looking at these next two games, us and the Sharks, as measuring sticks. We know we're going to get their best." According to the Orange County Register, Carlyle said the Ducks will call up forward Kalle Kossila from San Diego of the American Hockey League and he likely will make his NHL debut. He would take the spot of Stefan Noesen, who was claimed by the New Jersey Devils off waivers on Wednesday.

Status report
Silfverberg took part in the morning skate and hopes to be back next week. "I feel pretty good, but hopefully I'll be ready to go after the break," he said. Thompson was sent to San Diego on Tuesday on a long-term injury conditioning loan.

McDavid has two goals and four assists during a four-game point streak. Draisaitl has two goals and five assists in his past six games. … Getzlaf has three goals and six assists in his past nine games. Rakell has three goals in five games.
