PANTHERS (13-13-4) at JETS (13-16-3)
8 p.m. ET; TSN3, FS-F, NHL.TV
Panthers team scope
Florida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo will start and can tie Terry Sawchuk (447) for fifth on the NHL all-time victory list. Forward Jaromir Jagr (1,883) is four points behind Mark Messier (1,887) for second place on the all-time scoring list. Panthers coach Tom Rowe said neither milestone is playing on the minds of his players. "That's what is impressive about Roberto and Jaromir; they come to the rink every day prepared mentally and physically and that's why they're going to reach those milestones," said Rowe, whose team is 1-3-2 in its past six games. "I don't think it plays on them. It doesn't play on the team whatsoever. It's fun to be a part of it and it's fun to watch. The Panthers are 2-4-3 in their past nine games and have lost four straight on the road (0-2-2). "Especially the starts of the game, they are pretty crucial for us," center Aleksander Barkov said. "If we are losing 2-0 or 3-0, I think it's pretty impossible in this League to come back from [that]. We need to concentrate on our start and score our goals first."
Jets team scope
The Winnipeg Jets will look to end a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) after having three days off. "It's big to have a few days off to mentally recuperate and get our bodies back to where they need to be," center Mark Scheifele said. "For us, we got to get out of that lull. Having three days off, it's a tough thing to come back. But we need to get our legs moving early and get into the game early and we will be fine." The Jets are 4-9-1 in their past 14 games. They had a rare practice Wednesday after playing 32 games in 60 days to start the season. "Just trying to reinforce some areas that can creep away when you're not out there and able to get on the ice as a group and practice those things together," forward Blake Wheeler said. The Jets are 4-8-2 against Eastern Conference teams.
