{allcanada} OHL: Korostelev scores winner as Sting topple Storm

 

SARNIA, Ont. — Nikita Korostelev's second goal of the game stood as the winner as the Sarnia Sting held off the Guelph Storm for a 5-4 victory in Ontario Hockey League action on Wednesday.

Korostelev's power-play goal at 18:41 of the second period made it 5-2 for the Sting (16-10-3), who allowed two goals in the final period to bring the game within one.

Adam Ruzicka also scored twice and added two helpers for Sarnia and Anthony Salinitri rounded out the offence with a goal and two assists.

Ryan Merkley scored the two third-period goals for the Storm (10-16-3). Isaac Ratcliffe had the other two.

Sting goaltender Aidan Hughes made 45 saves for the win. Guelph's Liam Herbst stopped 21 shots in the losing effort.

STEELHEADS 5 RANGERS 1

KITCHENER, Ont. — Brendan Harrogate scored two goals and Vili Saarijarvi added a goal and an assist to lift Mississauga over the Rangers.

Scoley Dow and Nathan Bastian also scored for the Steelheads (8-14-6).

Connor Bunnaman had the lone goal for Kitchener (17-9-2).

OTTERS 6 ICEDOGS 1

ERIE, Pa. — Kyle Maksimovich struck twice and Taylor Raddysh had three assists to lead the Otters over Niagara for their third straight win.

Alex DeBrincat had a goal and a helper for Erie (22-6-2) while Dylan Strome, Patrick Fellows and Gera Poddubnyi supplied the rest of the offence.

William Lochead scored for the IceDogs (9-14-6), who have dropped five straight (0-4-1).
