Jets team scope
The Winnipeg Jets are on a three-game losing streak (0-2-1) following a 6-2 loss at the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Winnipeg is 5-9-2 on the road this season and 4-8-1 in their past 13 games overall. "We didn't play the game, we didn't play hard enough, we didn't play smart and they scored some quick goals there," forward Nikolaj Ehlers said in Calgary. "We just weren't good enough and that's just something we have to change." Ehlers scored in the third period to end a 15-game goalless streak. Center Mark Scheifele leads the Jets in scoring with 14 goals and 28 points in 28 games this season. "We got to get it out of our mind, focus on [Sunday] and have that fire under our belly," Scheifele said after the game. "[Edmonton is] a good team, they're quick and they're skilled and we have to be ready for them." Winnipeg did not have a morning skate.
Oilers team scope
The Edmonton Oilers are on a four-game losing streak (0-1-3) and return home after a three-game road trip. The Oilers won the previous two games against the Jets this season. Edmonton defeated Winnipeg 3-0 on Oct. 23 and 6-3 on Dec. 1. "They've played a lot of hockey and so have we," captain Connor McDavid said. "We're fresh off an off day and they played [Saturday] night so we definitely have to get on them early and make sure they're working all the time." McDavid leads the NHL in scoring with 38 points and has seven goals and 19 points in his past 12 games. Center Leon Draisaitl is on a three-game point streak (3-2-5) and has 10 goals and 18 points in his past 14 games. "He's been great, he's playing some of the best hockey I've ever seen him play over the last 10-game stretch here," McDavid said. "He's been awesome for us. He's such a big man that when he gets moving, he has so much talent that he's a pretty scary threat." Sunday begins a three-game homestand for the Oilers. "Obviously we would have liked to come with more points that we did [on road trip], but we just have to move on," defenseman Adam Larsson said.
