{allcanada} WHL: Pats stay hot with OT win against Warriors

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Sam Steel scored 19 seconds into overtime as Regina edged the Moose Jaw Warriors 5-4 on Thursday — keeping the Pats' point streak in the Western Hockey League alive.

Regina has yet to lose in regulation this season and has earned a point in all 16 of its games this season. That streak has put the Pats atop Canada's national major junior power rankings.

Filip Ahl had a hat trick for Regina (13-0-3) and Dawson Leedahl added a power-play goal. Tyler Brown made 23 saves for the win.

Nikita Popugaev's second goal of the night came late in the third period and forced overtime for Moose Jaw (11-4-3). Tristin Langan and Noah Gregor also scored for the Warriors as Zach Sawchenko stopped 46 shots in net.

The Pats went 4 for 7 on the power play and the Warriors were 2 for 4 with the man advantage.

Anatolii Elizarov and Trey Fix-Wolansky chipped in as well as Edmonton (7-9-2) won back-to-back games.

Logan Christensen and Mason McCarty replied for the Blades (8-10-1).

GIANTS 4 COUGARS 2

LANGLEY, B.C. — James Malm struck twice to power Vancouver past Prince George.

Dawson Holt had the winner for the Giants (9-11-0) and Radovan Bondra added an insurance goal. Vancouver has won two straight.
