Goalie Mike Condon was acquired by the Ottawa Senators in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday for a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Condon was claimed off waivers by the Penguins from the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 11 and served as the backup to Marc-Andre Fleury while Matt Murray was sidelined with a broken hand. He made one appearance, making seven saves in relief of Fleury in a 5-1 loss at the Nashville Predators on Oct. 22.
Condon was 21-25-6 with a 2.71 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in 55 appearances (51 starts) for the Canadiens last season while playing in place of an injured Carey Price.
Senators goalie Craig Anderson has started the past two games after a one-game leave of absence following his wife Nicholle's cancer diagnosis. Chris Driedger is the other goaltender on Ottawa's roster with Andrew Hammond out because of a groin injury.
