{allcanada} OHL: Chmelevski leads 67's past Frontenacs

 

KINGSTON, Ont. — Sasha Chmelevski's second goal of the game stood as the winner as the Ottawa 67's edged the Kingston Frontenacs 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action on Friday.

Chmelevski opened the scoring on a power play 17:17 into the first period and added his second, also on the power play, midway through the third for a 3-1 lead.

Drake Rymsha also scored for Ottawa (6-8-2).

Ted Nichol and Jason Robertson had goals for the Frontenacs (6-9-1), who extended their losing skid to three games.

67's goaltender Leo Lazarev stopped 31 shots. Kingston's Jeremy Helvig made 19 saves.

OTTERS 7 STEELHEADS 4

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Darren and Taylor Raddysh both had big nights with a goal and three assists apiece in Erie's thrashing of the Steelheads.

Kyle Pettit scored twice and Alex DeBrincat had a goal and two helpers for the Otters (12-3-1). Christian Girhiny and Ivan Lodnia rounded out the attack.

Owen Tippett had two goals for Mississauga (5-7-3), which lost its fourth straight game. Nathan Bastian and Brendan Harrogate also scored.

KNIGHTS 6 WOLVES 4

SUDBURY, Ont. — Max Jones scored twice and Robert Thomas had the go-ahead goal midway through the third period as London topped the Wolves.

Cliff Pu had a goal and two assists for the Knights (10-2-3) while Josh Nelso and Sam Miletic rounded out the attack.

Kyle Capobianco led Sudbury (8-7-1) with a goal and a helper. Ryan Valentini, Shane Bulitka and David Levin also scored.

STING 5 GREYHOUNDS 2

SARNIA, Ont. — Jordan Kyrou scored shorthanded and four other Sting skaters found the back of the net to beat Sault Ste. Marie.

Kevin Spinozzi, Jaden Lindo, Nikita Korostelev and Jeff King also scored for Sarnia (11-5-1), which trailed 2-0 midway through the first period

Bobby MacIntyre and Morgan Front scored for the Greyhounds (10-6-1).

PETES 3 BULLDOGS 2 (OT)

HAMILTON, Ont. — Matt Spencer scored 1:11 into overtime to lift Peterborough over the Bulldogs.

Logan DeNoble and Zach Gallant scored back-to-back power-play goals in the second period to give the Petes (8-6-2) a 2-1 lead. Matthew Timms tacked on two assists.

Brandon Saigeon opened the scoring for Hamilton (9-5-2) and MacKenzie Entwistle tied the game late in the second.

FIREBIRDS 3 RANGERS 2

KITCHENER, Ont. — Hunter Holmes scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and Flint held on to top the Rangers.

Ryan Moore and Kole Sherwood also scored for the Firebirds (9-7-1).

Adam Mascherin scored and assisted on Alex Peterson's goal for Kitchener (10-5-1).

GENERALS 2 ATTACK 1

OSHAWA, Ont. — Kenny Huether scored twice as the Generals slipped past Owen Sound.

Danil Antropov assisted on both goals and Jeremy Brodeur stopped 41 shots for Oshawa (10-5-1), which picked up points in its sixth straight game.

Cole Cameron had the lone goal for the Attack (9-8-0) and Michael McNiven made 41 saves. Owen Sound's Zachary Roberts got a game misconduct for boarding at 16:48 of the second period.

BATTALION 6 ICEDOGS 5 (SO)

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Justin Brazeau scored the only goal in the shootout as North Bay edged the IceDogs in a game that was delayed one hour due to traffic.

Brazeau also scored in regulation, Maurizio Colella had two goals and two assists, Steve Harland had a goal and two helpers, and Zach Poirier rounded out the offence for the Battalion (9-7-1). Brett McKenzie chipped in with three assists.

Christopher Paquette struck twice for Niagara (4-8-4), which lost its fourth straight game. Daniel Singer, Ryan Mantha and Johnny Corneil also scored.
