Jets Team Scope
The Winnipeg Jets will be scrambling to fill their lineup, with forwards Mathieu Perreault (upper body) and Joel Armia (lower body) injured during a 4-3 overtime loss against the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Jets coach Paul Maurice did not have an update on either player after the game, and the team did not hold a morning skate on Friday. With five other players sidelined, the team called up forward Nic Petan from Manitoba of the American Hockey League and placed forward Tyler Myers (lower body) on injured reserve. Winnipeg trailed 3-0 entering the third period Thursday, but got goals from Toby Enstrom, Adam Lowry and Marko Dano to send the game to overtime. It was the third time this season the Jets have rallied from three goals down, and it got them a point. "The last two years, it was no secret that our team struggled to come back in third periods," Lowry said Thursday. "Finding ways to come back and score multiple goals, it shows the character of this group."
Red Wings Team Scope
Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall (knee) is expected to play for the first time since the Red Wings were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference First Round last season. "I'm not nervous, but I'm definitely excited to get the jersey back on tonight," he said Friday. "I got through a full practice on Tuesday and I'm ready to go." Kronwall, 35, had 26 points (three goals, 23 assists) in 64 games last season, and has 365 points (74 goals, 291 assists) in 738 NHL games, all with the Red Wings. Detroit is 0-2-1 after a six-game winning streak, including a 4-3 overtime loss against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. "We've got to keep our urgency high for 60 minutes, and we haven't been doing that," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said.
