Flyers team scope
The Philadelphia Flyers are the visiting team for the 2016 Hockey Hall of Fame Game. Former Flyers forward Eric Lindros will be among the inductees in a ceremony on Monday. "He's been huge for me," forward Wayne Simmonds said. "It's incredible how dominant of a player he was in his career." The Flyers have earned seven of a possible 10 points in their past five games. Coming off a 3-2 shootout loss against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday, Philadelphia's past eight games have been decided by one goal. The Flyers have the second-best power play in the NHL at 28.3 percent, and are 4-for-12 with the man advantage (33.3 percent) through their past three games. Goaltender Steve Mason, who made 33 saves against Detroit, will start. Forward Roman Lyubimov, recalled from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League, will be in the lineup and play right wing on the fourth line, alongside left wing Matt Read and center Pierre-Edouard Bellemare. Lyubimov has one goal in 11 games for the Flyers this season.
Maple Leafs team scope
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews has no goals and one assist in his past seven games after scoring 10 points (six goals, four assists) in his first six games in the NHL. "Sometimes the puck honestly just doesn't go your way and you get in these little slumps," Matthews told SportsNet on Thursday. "But I think the good thing is that we are creating these opportunities, and we're getting these point-blank chances. We've just got to keep shooting, keep going, and some of these things are going to start to fall." The Maple Leafs are coming off a 7-0 loss against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. The defeat ended a three-game Toronto winning streak. Forward Nikita Soshnikov, who experienced groin tightness during practice Wednesday, will play Friday at right wing on the Maple Leafs fourth line alongside left wing Matt Martin and center Ben Smith. Goaltender Frederik Andersen will start. He's 4-0-0 with a 2.64 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in four career starts against the Flyers.
