Calgary Flames defenceman Nicklas Grossmann cleared waivers on Wednesday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
He will be sent down to the Flames' AHL club in Stockton.
With only three games played this season, the defenceman has been highly criticized with a minus-4 rating and two penalty minutes.
The 31-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Flames at the beginning of October worth $575,000.
Over the course of 592 career games, the veteran has recorded 13 goals, 73 assists and 314 penalty minutes since being drafted in the second round in 2004.
Like Grossmann, the Flames have struggled early in the season and are off to a slow 5-8-1 start.
