CANUCKS (4-5-1) at SENATORS (6-3-0)

7:30 p.m. ET; RDS, TSN5, SNV, NHL.TV

Canucks team scope

After starting the season with four wins, the Vancouver Canucks have lost six straight games (0-5-1) and have been shut out in three of their past four. They have scored the first goal of the game once. They are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, when they outshot the Canadiens 42-21. "I think we got back to what we did the first four games there," said goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who will start against the Senators. "I thought we played a great hockey game, but it's about scoring goals at the end of the day. If we keep playing like we did [Wednesday], we're on the right path." The Canucks were shut out by the Senators 3-0 in Vancouver on Oct. 25.

Senators team scope

Goaltender Craig Anderson left the Ottawa Senators on Thursday to be with his wife Nicholle, who is battling cancer. There is no timetable for the return of Anderson, who is 6-1-0 this season with a 2.24 goals-against average. With backup Andrew Hammond out for at least another week with a groin injury, the Senators acquired Mike Condon from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday for a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. Condon will start against the Canucks. "We don't know when [Anderson] will be back," coach Guy Boucher said. "We don't know when Hammond will be back. I think [Ottawa general manager] Pierre [Dorion] did a great job of making sure we had somebody with experience for the next games because we don't know how many games [Anderson will miss]." Forward Mark Stone will not play because of a neck injury he sustained in the Senators 2-1 overtime win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. Forward Max McCormick, called up from Binghamton of the American Hockey League on Thursday, will play. The Senators are looking for their third straight win.
