BLACKHAWKS (12-4-2) at CANUCKS (7-10-1)

Blackhawks team scope
Backup goalie Scott Darling will start for the Chicago Blackhawks, who will try to win their second game in as many nights. Chicago's streak of 11 consecutive games with at least a point ended in a 4-0 loss at the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday to start their seven-game "Circus Trip," but the Blackhawks bounced back with a 3-2 win at the Calgary Flames on Friday. Corey Crawford started Chicago's past five games, including the win in Calgary, but Darling will get his fourth start of the season and second in the past four weeks against the Canucks. "It's definitely not ideal. But at this point it's what my job is and I am obviously thrilled anytime I get to start so I've been looking forward to this road trip knowing hopefully I will get two games with two back-to-backs," said Darling, who is 3-0-0 with a .907 save percentage this season. "When we play the right way, we are really good team and definitely help the goalies defensively." Chicago might make other lineup changes, but only a couple of players were on the ice with Darling at the morning skate and coach Joel Quenneville did not speak to the media. Quenneville said before the game in Calgary that forwards Vinnie Hinostroza and Tyler Motte might return against the Canucks. Hinostroza left the game against Winnipeg in the first period but has been cleared to return. Motte has missed four games with a lower-body injury and seems less likely to play. "I would say a small chance," Quenneville said Friday.
Canucks team scope
Goaltender Jacob Markstrom get his third straight start for the Vancouver Canucks. No. 1 goalie Ryan Miller, who missed a scheduled start and sat out Thursday because the flu, is healthy enough to dress as his backup. Forward Derek Dorsett won't play after leaving in the first period against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday with a shoulder injury, but right wing Jayson Megna, who grew up in the Chicago area, will return after missing 10 games with a shoulder injury. "I remember going to the games as a 10-year-old kid, so it's definitely cool anytime you get to play these guys," Megna said. "It's important for me to keep it simple tonight, not think too much, just kind of react, put pucks in and use my speed."
The Canucks are looking to build some momentum by winning consecutive games for the first time since they opened the season with four straight victories. Vancouver lost nine in a row after its hot start and has alternated wins and losses in the past five games, including a 3-2 comeback win against the Coyotes on Thursday. "We know one win, one loss is not going to make it for us," captain Henrik Sedin said. "We need to get some wins and get a good feeling around this dressing room again."

Status report

The Canucks sent goalie Michael Garteig back to Alaska of the ECHL after he was called up to back up Markstrom with Miller sick on Thursday.
