Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw was brought in by general manager Marc Bergevin for his in-your-face style of play, but it appears he may have crossed the line in his Bell Centre debut.
Shaw was given a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct after he drove Connor Hobbs into the glass behind the Washington net in the second period of a pre-season game Tuesday night.
He then had to fight Nathan Walker before being sent off the ice.
It's quite possible Shaw was responding to an apparent slew-foot from Washington's Jay Beagle, nevertheless, it was an inglorious way to end his first game in a Canadiens sweater.
It wasn't all bad for Canadiens first-timers though.
Alexander Radulov put on a bit of a show, with a goal and an assist through two periods of play.
He got on the board with a deflection to open the scoring, then made a pretty pass to Nathan Beaulieu for his second point of the night.
