The Ottawa Senators signed forward Ryan Dzingel to a one-year, two-way contract on Tuesday.
The contract will carry an annual value of $750,000 in the National Hockey League and $72,500 in the American Hockey League.
Dzingel, 24, appeared in 44 games for the B-Sens last season, setting new professional career highs in assists (24) and points (36), while adding 12 goals. A native of Wheaton, Ill., Dzingel was recalled to Ottawa for the first time on Dec. 21 and made his NHL debut the next evening at Florida (2-1 SO loss).
Dzingel went on to play 30 NHL games with the Senators, where he registered three goals, six assists and 11 penalty minutes. He scored his first NHL goal on Feb. 16 vs. Buffalo (2-1 SO win).
Drafted by the Senators with their second seventh-round pick (204th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, Dzingel spent three seasons with the Big Ten Conference's Ohio State Buckeyes before being signed to an entry-level contract on April 2, 2014.
